Stephen Mellor

Author

STEPHEN MELLOR was born in Buchanan, Liberia, grew up in Yorkshire and lives in Sheffield with his wife, and Moose, the excitable greyhound.

From Where We Threw Dogs is his first published novel. It fearlessly addresses challenging human conditions, emotions, and the toxicity within male grief. His first novella, Pyre, a story of isolation and longing, was shortlisted for the Reflex Press 2022 Novella Award, and is available now. His third published work, The Day Lemmy Loved Johnny The Most, a reimagining of the story of Peter’s denial of Jesus is available now.

He is the creator and co-host of Prompety Prompt, the podcast for readers, writers and listeners.

His screenplay, Dimitri’s Garden, won the best feature fiction screenplay award at the 2025 London Greek International Film Festival.

Away from writing there is always Sheffield Wednesday and still playing the beautiful game and aching for days after. And singing along, although never in tune, with guitar bands. Loves the Romans and small comedy clubs, but the two things aren't connected.
